>> good evening. i'm john fenoglio. >> and i'm vicki liviakis. breaking news from idaho. the search is over tonight.amber alert victim. hannah anderson has been found alive! her suspected kidnaper - shot dead by an fbi agent. >> the 16 year old went missing from her home in san diego on sunday. amber alerts rang out on cell phones thru-out california. the main suspect, james dimaggio, a family friend. for more on the suspect and how police located hannah. kron 4's philippe djegal is in the newsroom with how it all went down. philippe? >> reporter: vicki. the san diego county sheriff's department says james dimaggio was shot and killed by an f-b-i agent in the idaho wilderness near morehead lake. we're told the confrontation happened at around 5-15 this evening. this is a look at the man.

who has been described as a friend of hannah anderson's family. one of hannah's friends has also said that the 40-year- old man had a crush on anderson. it's unclear if the feeling was mutual. but that friend went on to say that she didn't believe hannah would have willingly run away with dimaggio. hannah was found alive near dimaggio's body. she's been taken to a hospital for treatment. today, about 250 law enforcement personnel -- including about 150 f-b-i agents. spotted the pair's campsite from the air. then law enforcement moved in on their site. located on the frank-church river of no return wilderness. about 15 miles outside cascade, idaho. investigators focused on this area acting on a tip from earlier this week. t's about one thousand miles north of southern california where anderson and dimaggio are from. on sunday -- anderson's mother and 8-year-old brother were found dead in dimaggio's home. investigators say the two died in flames -- when dimaggio's home was set on fire. at one point, the sheriff's department said the charred remains of the two were so badly burned. that carrying out d-n-a tests proved to be difficult. until today, hannah anderson was last seen last saturday at her cheerleading practice. but after multple amber alerts in multiple states. she has been found. >> "hannah is safe. and that was our first priority from the very beginning. we are so appreciative of all our law enforcement partners and

members of our community, who all played a role in bringing hannah home. >> tonight. the search is still on for missing oakland woman sandra coke. authorities say, a woman's body was found in vacaville yesterday but they have not said whether or not it is that of sandra coke. coke, who is a federal investigator, went missing last sunday. police say coke was seen in the company of her long-time ex-boyfriend on the day of her dissapearance. he is identified as 56-year- old randy alana. police have named him a person of interest in the case. alana a registered sex offender, was arrested on an unspecified parole violation earlier this week and has been questioned. tonight, coke's family and friends are holding out hope that she is still alive. they refused to speak until the body found has been identified. stick with kron 4 news and we'll keep you updated on this developing story. contract negotiations continue tonight between bart and two unions representing train operators and station agents. krn four's jeff bush is live in oakland with the latest. jeff we understand there's been some progress. where do things stand at this hour? >> a young girl and a man riding in a horse-drawn carriage were injured in a collision near petaluma today. police say an 11 year old girl was riding on a horse and carriage when the horse spooked and took off running at full speed. the owner of the horse tried unsuccessfully to stop the horse.which steered into a city traffic sign, causing the passengers to be ejected. meanwhile, a driver on east washington street saw the horse running down tn tow. the driver pulled his vehicle in front of the runaway carriage, causing the horse to eventually stop. the girl suffered minor injurie police say the driver's actions likely prevented the girl from suffering greater injuries. still ahead on the kron 4 news at eight. destruction without warning as torrential rains cause widespread flooding in colorado. we'll show the dramatic video. plus. a fast moving wildfire in southern california moves closer to palm springs. we'll have an update on containment. and. how oakland streets may be somewhat safer tonight. we'll tell you why. more news is next. firefighters are making progress on a major wildfire in southern california. the silver fire in riverside county has burned almost thirty thousand square miles and destroyed twenty-six homes. seven firefighters have been injured in the blaze, and many more people have been ordered to evacuate in the area of banning near interstate ten. the fire is now about forty- five percent contained, according to riverside county fire officials. however they worry that warmer weather and strong santa anna winds could fuel the fire as it makes its way east toward palm springs. on friday, governor jerry brown declared a state of emergency in riverside county, making it possible for residents affected by the fire to receive federal aid. evacuation orders have been temporarily lifted in poppet flats, cabazon, mt. edna, and snow creek.

of violence among young people in oakland, enlisted the oakland police to conduct a gun buy back program this morning. the program offered one hundred dollars for each gun turned in. no questions asked. youth uprising had enough funds to take a hundred guns off the street. and they hoped their efforts went beyond just those one hundred guns. >> i think that there are so many opportunities for " no questions asked ". to end the violence. for people that have the same sentiments that want to come together for the community. >> reporter: the gun buy back program quickly ran through their funding for the one hundred >> as football season starts to rev up kron four's terisa estacio reports, some controversial changes are in store for fans heading to games at candlestick park. terisa estacio? >> reporter: with the new

nfl season about to start, there are can see them right there on the sign, it reads, the new nfl bag policy is in effect that means the it will be in effect when the game kicks off the new bag policy limits what fans can bring through security and into the stadium to watch the game for example, here is a list of what is now banned. you can not have a back pack, cooler, fanny pack, seat cushion, or camera bag - here's a look at what you can bring in you can cart in your items with these - a nfl approved see through tote, a small clutch type purse. you can also put some items in a one gallon ziplock bag and go through security. the nfl issued a statement saying that the new policy will speed of security plus make games safer this new policy was inacted shortly after the boston bomb blast. where the explosives were placed in backpacks near the finish line. kroon four spoke with a fan

slow lanes that are closed because of this fire. >> heavy rainfall is causing flash flooding in parts of central colorado. and the result is devastating. at least one person was killed when water flooded the streets of manitou springs-- west of colorado springs. the rainfall also caused a mudslide that swept away cars and washed out parts of a state highway. today, police say they are searching for others who were caught in the mess. more rain is forecast for the area this weekend. been all i have some concerning the use it to share with you. local news media report several homes, businesses and cars were damaged in the flooding and mudslide. >> record rainfall in northern japan yesterday has killed five people. and displaced hundreds more from their homes. the town of shizu-ku-ishi had a total rainfall of over ten inches in 24 hours. the largest amount ever recorded there.

>> and.a former microsoft executive is dead after a plane crashes in connecticut. more news after the break. the crash of asiana flight 2-1-4. was 33 days ago today. three people wereuntless - inju and recovery has been difficult for survivors and their families. for one victim, recovery is resulting in a lawsuit. henry xie spoke with kron- 4's philippe djegal. he says, the pain and nightmares are making it difficult for him to go home. >> reporter: the crash of asiana flight 2-14 has left china native henry xie with a fractured spine. that's why he is wearing a brace. his dentures were also broken. you can see the damage to his mouth in this photo. he says he's also suffering from post-traumatic stress. accompanied by his attorney

based in walnut creek. henry says he filed a lawsuit in san francisco federal court against asiana airlines a week and a half ago. seeking no less than five million dollars in damages. henry says he'll remain in the united states until he heals. then return to china, where he is a professor at the university of shanghai. in the meantime, his wife and son are with him in the bay area. in south san francisco, philippe djegal, kron four news.

federal investigators are piecing together a plane crash in connecticut that killed at least four people on frida officials say the small aircraft crashed upside down into two homes friday morning and burst into flames. it's believed two children ages, one and 13 were killed inside one house. >> i know that there was radio communication between the pilot. from there. they lost transmission. >> a lead investigator for the n-t-s-b says air traffic controllers made contact with the pilot moments before the plane went down. f-a-a officials said the private plane was headed to an airport in new haven from

teterboro airport in new jersey. a relative said ex-microsoft executive bill henningsgaard and his son were on board the plane. officials say only two bodies have been identified, the pilot and a one-year-old found in the basement of the halves home. autopsy results for three heroic firefighters who were killed in the west, texas plant explosion in april are raising some tough questions. the mayor says the results indicate they should not have responded to the fire. jobin panicker reports. >> reporter: these are men that came into action. helping this explosion of volunteer firefighters now in a moral outside of this fire department. however, some say they should have not have been there. these brothers have blocked all all levels above the legal limit. and the mayor is not faced by this report. >> these are still fallen

family back. the west plant explosion killed 14 and injured more than 200. the cause is still under investigation. a florida school bus driver won't face any charges after a brutal attack on a student on his bus. but the driver is still trying to explain why he didn't intervene in the fight at the time. peter bernard has the details. >> reporter: feeling helpless and intervened, lease were off survey with this three-of in-14. situation on this school bus. they say if there were three different 15 year olds. after 2.5 weeks, the department. says this.

he also addressed the recent controversy over the backlog of veterans' disability claims. the department of veterans affairs says the average files a disability claim is 273 days. but, for first time filers, the wait can be up to 327 days. and it's even longer for veterans in big cities such as new york. >> a boy in texas spent his summer vacation mowing yards for extra cash. but 11-year-old dyllon orthman wasn't doing it to make money for himself. instead, he was raising money for the victims of the moore, oklahoma tornado. he says he's mowed nearly 90 lawns in two months. and has raised about 16- thousand dollars! here's what orthman had to say about his hard work.

reportedly suffered what's described as a "non- epileptic seizure" early friday morning at a recording studio in hollywood. an online celebrity website reported the 24-year-old refused medical treatment and transportation to the half hospital after medics responded to a 9-1-1 call. a representative f the singer issued a statement to the "hollywood reporter" friday night saying doctors who treated brown are attributing the seizure to intense fatigue and extreme emotional distress linked to "unfounded legal matters and non-stop negativity." >> oprah winfrey says she was recently the victim of racism while shopping in switzerland. says a store assistant refused to show her a handbag because it was "too expensive." but as diana magnay tells us, the store's manager says it wasn't an act of racism. just a misunderstanding.
